The groups are going to continue, on a self help basis. So I will leave this blog in place so that groups can access all the old work as a resource......

Homework!
Just in case there are any of you who cannot come to a group session but want a few ideas to work on at home I will post some thoughts here.
Obviously these will be just pointers, ideas for you to interpret as you choose.
I know the hard thing is just to get started!
If you could send any work in to me to post here I know that I, and everyone else would be really interested to see it.
So we have a loose theme this term. It is 'stuff in a jar'.
We all have gardens and an interest in the things that grow in them.
So my idea is to start by concentrating on 4 elements to construct a composition.
1. an edge or frame to place the image in.
2. a groundline.
3. a vase, jug or container.
4. flowers, stems, seedheads.
Consider how you place everything, think about positve shapes, and negative shapes.
You can redraw the edge or frame when you have finished the drawing if you feel it will make a stronger composition.
Try doing a scribble drawing using a pen and without taking your pen off the paper. Explore different ways of drawing, and different sizes, and proportions.
Have fun with this. Drawings can be quick, or take a long time.

the restart!
when we restart the groups at Marsham, on Wednesday 22 and Monday 27 please bring a sturdy jug or vase with you as I will bring some flower stems for drawing but they are heavy and need something sturdy to stop them toppling over.
You could also bring pens, biro, pencils ........drawing implements, and paper would be good too
see you on Wednesday!

see you there......
protocol for our groups.....
Here is Mary's message. We think this is sensible procedure for the future of our groups.
'I met up with Tina, Adrian and Terry at the end of August so that we could look at how to make it safe for everyone to meet in the hall. We came up with the following guidelines:
We should all be double jabbed and should not come if we have any Covid symptoms or a positive test.
Hopefully, on the first week the tables will be set up, but after that we will all be individually responsible for setting up and putting away our own tables and chairs with help if needed. We will have a table each.
We will also be individually responsible for cleaning all surfaces we touch eg tables, chairs, door handles etc. The hall does provide hand gel and some cleaning materials, but it might be a good idea to bring our own cleaning materials.
We should all wear masks when moving about, but wearing one while sitting is discretionary.
We will bring our own refreshments so that the use of the kitchen is kept to a minimum.
The charge for the term will be £20 payable on the first day.
If you have any concerns about the arrangements we have put in place and you don’t feel comfortable with them, please let me know so that your place can be allocated to someone else.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Looking forward to getting together again.'
