up to date pics.....

here are just two of the lovely careful objective drawings we started this term off with. The objects are all kindly loaned by Gressenhall Rural Life Museum, mostly from their handling collection. I would have put more up here but I seem to have lost them somewhere in the computer.....

UPDATE

well, unfortunately there was another day off for me the Wed before last, which means that the last WEDNESDAY of the term will be 30th July. So after half term lessons will restart on June the 9th, 10th and 11th continuing through June and July with the last lessons being Monday 21st July, Tuesday 22nd July and Wednesday 30th July. So everyone will have a ten week term as usual, even if the days are a little erratic!
And by the way, next term starts the week of Monday 15th September.

so apologies for a confusing day on Tuesday, I hope it wasn't really confusing , as I did try to phone everyone and tell them there was no lesson as I was not well. I hate cancelling classes, but of course its really only a postponement so that the first day of term for tuesday people will be this tuesday 6th May, and the last lesson will be on the 22nd July.

Summer Schools

Just to let you know, although I will tell you all about it when I see you, that I have planned some Summer Schools coming up soon. I try to bring in venues and ideas that are different from what we normally do, (whatever that is,)  and so to give a little LANDSCAPE experience I have fixed up two days at Natural Surroundings at Bayfield near Holt, where you can enjoy a lovely intimate view of nature where there are even Red Squirrels (part of a captive breeding programme for release on to certain islands) and lots of wildlife, woods, river and fen in a quiet atmosphere. Of course there is a great cafe with good fresh local stuff......

and I have also fixed up two days at GRESSENHALL RURAL LIFE MUSEUM where there is so much to look at I don't know where to start! Animals at Union Farm, loads of ephemera, lots of architecture, gardens, cottages, people, stuff and so on and of course a lovely cafe!

.....and Paul is offering more LINO CUTTING AND PRINTING WORKSHOPS so if you want to have a go, or improve what you have done before then now is your chance,

and a LIFE DRAWING DAY perhaps you might want to build on the work we did the other day, or if you want to have a go then a whole day working is a wonderful start, if you look at the work above you can see how good it is and most of the people there had never worked from a life model before.

LIFE DAY AT MARSHAM

well didn't they do well!.....Thanks to you all for attending the life drawing day. I was so impressed with the standard of work produced on the life drawing day, it just goes to show that the practice pays off, drawing onions or machines or sticks or people, the skills are the same. The model was great, and stayed very still for us, Paul helped  no end with preparation and advice, and I think everyone enjoyed the day, and felt suitably exhausted at the end because it is hard work, drawing all day!

You can see that there was some pencil work, chalk, pastel and lots of charcoal (particularly on the floor!)

MARSHAM

March at Cawston

So this is some work from Cawston, some from our models in the afternoon group, and some more general portrait work from the morning group.
