back to the portraits...

so here you are just a couple from yesterday, the others came out out of focus so I will try again so watch this space....

Sunday 19 October 2014

yet more trees....these are from the Marsham groups.

I try to put everything up on the boards as you know, don't cherry pick, but here I have put individual photos up of a handful of paintings just because they seemed so painterly to me, and have techniques and atmosphere about them which is just a bit special. If you are in one of my groups you will know how they have been arrived at, and why there might be a slightly unusual glow about them, but I won't give away our secrets by identifying them here!
What I think is so special is that they do not look as if they are copies of photos, of course they aren't, but they look as if they are the result of genuine thinking artistic endeavour, which they are of course.

Quite a lot of trees.....

here are some of the examples of atmosphere generated by pattern and colour at Cawston.

EXHIBITION UPDATE

here is Paul, who had two lino prints accepted for the prestigious Eastern Open exhibition in Kings Lynn, and here he is with one of his prints which won a prize!
the Eastern Open is the biggest regional open exhibition in the country, and you can see it at the Fermoy gallery, Kings Lynn till late November. There is cake available, so worth the trip!

here is the gang of three who did stirling work with me on Friday, putting up all the work for exhibition at Great Ryburgh Church. There was lots to see there (cake too!) so look out for future exhibitions. I was so proud of you all for getting the great variety of work together, it all looked splendid framed and up on the screens! WELL DONE!

and here are two art critics discussing the work on show in great detail!

This terms work.....

these are all from the Marsham classes. I have included them here because they are all showing the ideas I have tried to put over of atmosphere in a woodland or forest context.

Atmosphere in the woods.....

so here is some of the work in this project. This week we are looking at how atmosphere is generated by colour and pattern and light, lots more to come. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this idea turns out and how you all interpret the mini gardens and woods you have created, inventing new vistas .......

EXHIBITION

If you happen to be in the Fakenham area next Saturday, October 11th,  try to find time to go to Great Ryburgh Church where there will be an exhibition, various items on display, cake and tea to be had, but mostly have a look at some work by the Hempton class!
There will be a wide variety of work, everyone is putting something in for you to see.

more of Monday

tried to feed a little Kokoschka into the mindset here, well we got some colour, lets see what happens next lesson.......
(to be a little simplistic here, part of what K wanted to do was to show more than the superficial look of his sitter, to show something of the sort of person they were, what was going on on the inside as well as the outside)
