WATER COLOUR?

I am thinking of organising another wild water colour day, but don't think I can squeeze it in till May, please let me know if you fancy the idea.

PORTRAITS Monday 23rd February

Some drawing exercises/experiments today in biro mostly....
and if you wern't there its a bit hard to explain the theory, but just look at the results! and then look again!! Next week we are working in broadly the same way with the addition of some colour, water colour that is, which will enable us to add slender washes, and subtle hints of colour to complement the elgant lines......

back to work....

.....went to the Time and Tide museum in Great Yarmouth on Saturday, always interesting but on this occasion specifically to see the Water Ways exhibition, featuring Art and Nature on the Broads. Admired the photographs by PH Emerson, precise and atmospheric images of the Broads which were in fact very 'posed' to make them as effective as they are.
Also admired the water colours by Charles Harmony Harrison and Stephen Bachelder. Atmospheric, understated, adept, representational but very direct in approach.
back to work tomorrow .......

the beach at Wells was lovely today, but
how have these beach huts got in here?

Here's the evidence....

The water colour day at Marsham went very well, as usual. Twelve people, ( and me ) painted and drew and drew and painted and dripped and splashed, and tipped and chucked paint all over the place!

so here are some of the exercises, experiments and paintings.
