Model with Music.....

WOW what a day! our model worked hard, our artists worked hard! Ten of you gathered at Marsham on Friday and worked on straightforward poses, and then some more challenging ideas, incorporating working to music and then some more restful poses, so the pace changed as the day went on, and the work was truly outstanding.....
see the pics here just to give you an idea of work done....

Life Drawing

just to mention that if you are coming to life drawing in Marsham Village Hall don't forget to bring several bits of paper, A2 or A3 size. We will start off in the morning with a variety of short poses and then progress to one or two longer ones in the afternoon. If you have an easil sitting at home waiting to be used now is the time to bring it, and a board is very important and useful so that you can angle your drawing comfortably and usefully. Bring charcoal, pastel and any materials you might want to use, but as you know I will have my usual stuff with me. Off white or coloured paper in addition to white would be good, maybe some of the wall paper you have gathered for the current work.

half term...

We very much enjoyed Macbeth at the cinema in Cromer, and we climbed the church tower, the views were amazing and I am so sorry I did not have a camera with me to show you the scene. It was the last day of opening for this year but will be open again next spring.

more Monochrome...

so can you spot the Maggie Hambling, part of her North Sea series?

Classes have been prolific this term, with this monochrome work, so the two sets above are only a few examples to show the range of work executed....
..... we went to the Time and Tide Museum at Yarmouth, which is where the Maggie Hambling above is displayed. It is about 30"across.
A special exhibition there is Beastly Machines, kinetic sculptures, till 21st February.

Three things

Just to let you know that the Wednesday afternoon class will continue at Hunworth for the rest of the term, so I will see you there on the 4th November, and would like to confirm that the heating works well! Work is progressing at Holt Sports and Social Club, but not quite finished yet.
Please let me know, or confirm, if you are coming to Life Drawing on Friday 30th October in Marsham Village Hall, and also to the Splishy Splashy Water Colour day on Friday 13th November, just so that I set the room out for the right number of people.

work from Hunworth

again I know you can't really see these to best advantage but I think you can get a good general impression of the wealth of monochrome marks which this group has made....

next week's work....

just to add to your instructions, think about the surface you work on, so that wallpaper is going to be porous, acrylic paper won't be and nor will the right side of waterproof wall paper, this means that your results with acrylic paint will vary depending on the nature of the surface. So consider your options and see what you can find in order to achieve a broad range of effects....
Research...look up
Katarzyna Coleman,
Kurt Jackson,
and at the Bircham Gallery from 10 Oct -4 Nov Chris Prout,
and try surfing the net to see who and what else you can find in terms a different landscape approach....
