BIRDSCAPES GALLERY

I have just been to the Birdscapes Gallery, Christmas Exhibition which runs till 24th December. I bought two prints!
Do go and have a look, lots to see as always. In case you don't know where the gallery is you will find it near Cley Spy, and next door to the Art Cafe at Glandford, where we went for one of our Summer Schools in the summer. Glandford is near Holt and Cley.

en plein air

I have been really inspired by the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year competition, so what do you think about some summer schools next year practising painting outside, whatever the weather?
there is nothing like it for generating a fresh and vibrant look at the world about us.
Perhaps put 'big umbrella' on your Christmas list?

Hunworth to Holt

it looks as though the venue at Holt, the Sports and Social Club on Kelling Road will be finished very soon, and we should be able to move back there in January. So watch this space for confirmation!

URBEX

.....if you want to look up some unusual images to give ideas for the work we are engaged in just now try googling 'urbex' which stands for 'urban exploration'. This is a city based hobby, as you will see, and there are some very unusual and useful images on line. A relative of mine has a blog of this hobby called 'burbex' which you could also look at. The 'b' is because the site involves urbex in Beijing. Here is just one example.....

War Work...

there is an exhibition of work at The Hostry, Norwich Cathedral until 23rd November of art work by forces artists who have served in Afghanistan. It is in support of a book of this work called 'Beyond the Wire'. An interesting tranche of work reflecting a very different world from that in which we live, here in Norfolk.

Don't forget we have a WATER COLOUR day at Cawston Village Hall on Friday, there are a few places, so let me know if you would like to join me.
Bring any water colour stuff you have, lots of paper, ink, oil pastels if you have them, anything you think might be useful and a BOARD to fix your paper to.
This day is for anyone and I am going to be encouraging the brave and exciting use of glorious colour.
